For beginning athletes, BCWSA offers a wheelchair loan program and several introductory programs. We offer wheelchair sports across the province and are actively working to expand into new areas, especially the North.

Wheelchair Loan Program
Sports wheelchairs can be expensive. That's why we have a comprehensive wheelchair loan program that offers athletes of all ages, sports, shapes and sizes access to proper sports wheelchairs. Wheelchairs can be rented for a very low yearly rate. To learn more, please contact:Kevin Bowie

Bridging the Gap Program
BC is a proud member of the Bridging the Gap: Physically Active program. Bridging the Gap: Getting Physically Active is a non-profit organization with the mission to help Canadians with disabilities get physically active. We are made up of Program Coordinators throughout Canada, who administer first-contact wheelchair sports events. What started as an innovative program in British Columbia in 1998 has grown by leaps and bounds into a national phenomenon.Through the Bridging the Gap program, we offer Have a Go Days, referrals, wheelchair loans, mentorship, developmental programs and clinics, and much more! Junior Programs
In addition to our Junior Sport Camp, weekly junior programs exist in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Chilliwack, Langley, Powell River and more. These programs are suitable for a wide range of types of disabilities, though participants must be able to operate a manual wheelchair.

Wheelchair Athletics Programs
Since wheelchair athletics is an individual sport, you can train anywhere in BC. If you are outside of the Lower Mainland, please contact us to access the proper equipment and training.Weekly track and field programs are currently taking place in: Burnaby, Richmond, Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo.

Wheelchair Tennis Programs
Wheelchair tennis programs exist in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Victoria and Kelowna. If an existing program doesn't exist in your area, don't worry. Wheelchair tennis can be easily adapted so that you can play with your able-bodied friends and family.
